Dress Code

At Studio K, we believe proper attire helps dancers perform safely, confidently, and with discipline.  Below is the dress code for each of our dance styles.  Please ensure hair is always pulled back and secured away from the face.

Tiny Tots & Pre-K Classes

Attire: Any dancewear or athletic wear that allows for movement (leotards, leggings, t-shirts, tutus, etc.)

Shoes: Ballet shoes, tap shoes, clean sneakers for hip-hop, barefoot for acro

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Ballet

Females:

Attire: summer ballet classes black  colored leotard and pink tights. 

Shoes: Pink ballet shoes (canvas or leather).

Hair: Neatly in a bun.

Males:

Attire: Top white fitted ballet shirt or plain fitted tshirt, black fitted athletic leggings or pants

Shoes: black ballet shoes (canvas or leather).

Tap

Attire: Leotard or fitted top with leggings or dance shorts.

Shoes: Black tap shoes 

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Jazz

Attire: Fitted dance top or leotard with leggings or dance shorts.  No baggy clothing.

Shoes: Tan or black jazz shoes

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Hip-Hop

Attire: Comfortable, athletic or street style dancewear.  Loose pants or joggers are acceptable.  No jeans.

Shoes: Clean sneakers designated for studio use only.

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Lyrical

Attire: Leotard or fitted top with tights, dance shorts, or leggings.

Shoes: Half-sole lyrical shoes or barefoot.

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Acrobatics

Attire: Leotard or fitted top with shorts or leggings.  No loose clothing.

Shoes: Barefoot.

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Pom

Attire: Leotard or fitted top with leggings or dance shorts.

Shoes: Clean sneakers or jazz shoes.

Hair: High ponytail.

Musical Theater

Attire: Fitted dancewear that allows expressive movement (leotard, tights, shorts).

Shoes: Jazz shoes.

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Contemporary

Attire: Leotard or fitted top with tights, dance shorts, or leggings.  No loose clothing.

Shoes: Half-soles or barefoot.

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Choreography

Attire: Leotard or fitted top with tights, dance shorts, or leggings.

Shoes: Varies by style being taught typically jazz, lyrical, or barefoot.

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Turns & Leaps

Attire: Leotard or fitted top with tights, dance shorts, or leggings.

Shoes: Jazz shoes or half soles.

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Technique

Attire: Leotard or fitted top with tights, dance shorts, or leggings.

Shoes: Ballet or jazz shoes (depending on focus).

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail. 

Stretch & Conditioning

Attire: Comfortable, fitted activewear or dancewear.

Shoes: Barefoot or socks with grip.

Hair: Pulled back securely in a bun or ponytail.
